All alone in my head
It’s just me, my pen & pages
To keep it all in line
I pretend but in the end
I know I will finally find my way
Out of this tricky situation
I’m leaving but I’m taking it too hard
Because I have been bleeding
Right from the very start
And I can’t take it anymore
It’s now time for the curtain call
Maybe it’s a little bit too much
Or a little bit too bold for you
But I don’t really care anymore
So say goodbye

The one that had a happy start
The one that broke our heart
The one that changed our priorities
The one that got us writing poetry
The one that made us strong
The one that makes us go soft
The one that gave us scars
The one hidden from the stars
We all have that
One favorite sad story

I dreamt I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
Coz no one else cared
I’m strong on the surface
Not all the way through
I’ve never been perfect
But neither have you
-
Never wish them pain
That’s not who you are
If they caused you pain
It’s coz they’ve pain inside
Wish them healing
That is what they need

If I tell you my Story
You would hear Hope that wouldn’t let go
You would hear Love that never gave up
You would hear Life that wasn’t mine
You would hear Life overcome the grave
You would hear Victory over the enemy
You would hear Freedom that was won for me
If I should speak then let it be
Of Grace that is Greater than all my sins
Of when Justice was Served and Mercy wins
Of the Kindness of Jesus that draws me in
To tell you my Story is to tell of Him

Don’t Judge someone
Who’s into what you just left
No matter how far gone they are
Remember that could’ve been you
Sometimes that was you back then
And some days, that is still you
Get rid of self righteous amnesia
Stay humble

I never loved you while I was sober
I guess it was the liquor that made my feelings bolder
Don’t drink and drive shouldn’t be on posters
Don’t drink and love ought to be the order
I was never myself when tipsy on whiskey
My mind and emotions were a little too frisky
She whisked my heart away so swiftly
Whatever we had then was always so risky
Searing lust wanting her with raw urgency
I never loved you while I was high
I guess I was blinded by the curves on each thigh
Every time I think of you I let out a sigh
So like a proper gentleman I will bid you goodbye
From dusk to dawn the night never lasts
Ours wasn’t love but a wave of lust

“It’s a woeful story, isn’t it? “ she said, her eyes fixed on the infant sun peaking from the east. ” I always feel sad at sunrise” she tells him, “the moon gives all her love, slowly losing herself as she keeps earth company during the darkest times. In the end though, she leaves when she doesn’t feel needed anymore.” He just chuckled and told her, “That’s not right you know. The moon doesn’t actually leave. The sun just arrives. I’m sure poets would find a more woeful story where the sun comes off better.” He shook his head and looked at the orange horizon. “But I personally find it amazing that brighter light can overshadow a dim one.” She smiles, ” maybe it’s to show that there is a better love?” He smiled back and asked, ” Is it because the sun is a better lover or because it is better to love the sun?”
